About

Medieval Islam is a project dedicated to exploring the history, scholarship, and civilizations of the medieval Islamic world.

The articles here draw on works by historians like al-Tabari, Ibn al-Athir, Ibn Kathir, Ibn Khaldun, al-Maqrizi, al-Jabarti, Philip Hitti, and Albert Hourani, among others to present a decolonized perspective on Islamic history, one that centers the voices, achievements, and complexities of the civilizations themselves rather than viewing them through an orientalist lens.

This project is by Shehab Yasser.
